How it holds up in use
This is a simple object: a black plastic platform on a plastic base with adjustable legs. You set the height, put it under the desk, and rest your feet on the textured top, which tilts as you shift your feet. At 5.5 lb it stays put under normal use yet is easy to nudge out of the way when you stand up or roll your chair back. The textured top keeps socks or shoes from sliding; people who work barefoot may find the bumps noticeable.
The useful question is whether you need one at all. The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration's computer workstation guidance says that if your seat cannot be lowered, for example because lowering it would put the keyboard or monitor too high, you should use a footrest to provide stable support for the feet [1]. In other words, a footrest is a fix for a mismatch between chair, desk and body height. If your feet already rest flat on the floor with the chair at the right height for the desk, you may not need one.
The Amazon listing goes much further, making claims about posture, circulation, swelling and pain. We have seen no evidence specific to this product and do not repeat those claims; we describe it as what it is, a platform for your feet. It does not replace moving around during the day, which public guidance does recommend: the US Physical Activity Guidelines advise adults to move more and sit less [2].
Measure first: you need about 17 by 13 inches of clear floor under the desk and enough knee clearance once your feet are raised up to 6.25 inches. If you have ongoing discomfort in your back, legs or feet at a desk, talk to a clinician or an occupational health professional rather than expecting a footrest to address it.
How to fit it into your day
A setup-and-use sequence for a desk day. The goal is a stable place for your feet, nothing more.
Set the chair first
Adjust your chair so your forearms sit comfortably at keyboard height. Then check your feet: if they dangle or only your toes touch the floor, that is the case the footrest is for.
Pick a height
Start at the lowest setting and raise it until your feet rest flat on the platform with your thighs roughly level. Check that your knees still clear the underside of the desk.
Use it while seated around 09:00–17:00
Rest your feet on it during desk work; the top tilts as you move. Slide it aside whenever you stand up so you do not trip over it.
Stand up regularly
Pair desk blocks with short walking breaks; a visual timer can mark them. Our habit note on walking breaks covers the guidance.

Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone whose feet already rest flat on the floor at the right chair height: you may not need a footrest at all.
- Anyone who needs more than 6.25 in of lift, or a soft surface: a taller or foam model will fit better.
- Anyone with persistent pain, numbness or swelling in the legs or feet should see a clinician; a footrest is furniture, not care.
