How We Choose

A day in four blocks, one set of checks for every tool, and a short list of things we will not claim. This page is the whole method.

A day, read like a clock

Most of the objects that make a routine easier are small and unglamorous: a lamp, a bottle, a timer, a notebook, a mask. What they have in common is not a category but a time of day. So instead of sorting this site by product type, we sort it by the hour you reach for each thing. The homepage is built around a 24-hour dial with midnight at the top, split into four blocks, and every tool sits in the block where it is actually used.

Morning, 05–11

Waking up and getting the day on paper: a wake-up light, a planner. The habit note for this block covers daylight in the first hours.

Midday, 11–17

The long stretch at a desk: a water bottle, a step counter, a visual timer, a footrest. Habit notes cover drinking water and short walking breaks.

Evening, 17–21

Slowing the pace: a caffeine-free tea, a short journal. The habit note covers a simple wind-down hour.

Night, 21–05

A few pages, then lights out: a book light, a sleep mask, a fan-based sound machine. The habit note covers keeping regular sleep times.

The block boundaries are ours, chosen to be easy to remember, and your day will not match them exactly. On each tool's card and fact sheet, a thin 24-hour bar shows the hours when that tool is typically used. It is a reading aid, not a schedule: a wake-up light is used before you get up, whenever that is for you. The small arrow under the site header and the hand on the homepage dial show your own local time, worked out in your browser and never sent anywhere.

How a tool earns a page

Every entry has to pass the same checks before we write it up. If a product fails one, it does not get a page.

  • An established brand with a live listing on Amazon.com. We open the listing ourselves and confirm the title, the brand's store, the exact size, color or variation, and that it is in stock. We do not write about products we could only find through a search page or a reseller.
  • The spec sheet or label, read literally. For a device, that means dimensions, materials, power source, battery, settings and care instructions, from the listing, the maker's own page and, where one is published, the manual. For the one consumable on the site, a tea, it means the ingredient list on the box. We report what is printed and say when a detail is not disclosed.
  • A clear place in the day. Each entry says which blocks of the day the tool is used in, with one honest sentence per block, and gives a short numbered sequence for fitting it into a day. The steps describe how to use the tool, not what will happen to you.
  • A price with a date on it. Every price on this site says when we saw it, which variation, and which seller. A price is only true on that day. We never write "currently", and we ask you to check the Amazon page before buying.
  • Guidance at the source. When an entry or a habit note touches on light, sleep timing, hydration or activity, we go to primary and public-health sources: the CDC, the NIH and its institutes, the U.S. Physical Activity Guidelines, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and peer-reviewed studies on PubMed and PMC. We describe what those sources found, with the hedges left in.
  • Clean packaging. We prefer products whose packaging and listing photos do not lead with medical claims, and we describe any marketing claim neutrally, attributed to the seller, rather than repeating it.

What we will not claim

  • No health promises for gadgets. A lamp, a bottle, a timer or a mask is a tool for a routine. We do not claim that any product on this site changes how your body works, improves a health outcome, or diagnoses or treats anything. Where research exists on a habit, such as regular sleep timing, we describe the research; we do not transfer it to a product.
  • No medical advice. Nothing here is written for your particular situation. If sleep, energy, alertness or physical discomfort is a persistent problem for you, the right next step is a clinician, not a purchase. That caution sits on every relevant page on purpose.
  • No targeting. Habit notes are written for a healthy adult. We do not write "for people with" a condition, an age group or a body type.
  • No invented people. The byline on every page is Wellness Habits News Editorial Team. There is no fictional doctor reviewing entries, and we never name real individuals as endorsers.
  • No lab tests. We are a small editorial team without a laboratory or a sound meter. We describe what makers publish and what the listing shows, and we say so.
  • No selling or shipping. Every purchase happens on Amazon under Amazon's own terms. See Shipping and Returns.

How we make money

Wellness Habits News earns money in exactly one way: the Amazon Associates program. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Every product button on this site goes to that product's Amazon listing, and if you buy through it we receive a small commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you.

There is no other affiliate program, no direct-seller link, no sponsored post, no paid placement, and no free product accepted in exchange for coverage. A brand cannot pay for a page here, and the commission rate on a product plays no part in whether it gets one or in what the entry says. The full version is in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Who writes this

Wellness Habits News is published by 808 ALKALINE HERBS & SUPPLEMENTS, LLC, a company based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The pages are written and maintained by a small editorial team. We are not clinicians or sleep specialists, and we do not claim to be. What we bring is a process: open the listing, read the spec, find the primary source, date the price, write it plainly, and say when we could not confirm something.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, we want to fix it: a price that has moved, a spec we misread, a guideline we described too generously, a product that has been revised, a link that has died. Write to us through the Contact page with the page address, the sentence or number you believe is wrong and, if you have one, a source we can open ourselves.

When we confirm an error we correct the page and update its checked date. If the correction changes what the entry actually says about a product, we add a short note on the page saying what changed.

How often pages are checked

Every entry and habit note carries the date it was last checked. Our working rule is to re-open every Amazon listing we link to at least once a quarter, confirming that the ASIN still resolves to the same product and variation and that it is in stock, and to re-check a price whenever we touch a page for any reason. Between checks a listing can change without telling us, which is why the date on the page is the only date that counts.
